Deena Winters
● Bachelor of Music in Piano
Performance and Pedagogy, Brigham Young University ● Former staff accompanist for
BYU’s School of Music ● Deena is one of the few pianists
in Utah that works as both a ballet accompanist and modern dance
musician. She has worked at
BYU as a dance musician and has accompanied almost all of BYU’s ballet
and modern dance faculty as well as for guest artists such as Bill
Evans, Paul Matteson, Keith
Johnson, Ruping Wang – Taiwan Repertory Dance Theatre as well as
former principal for Bolshoi
Ballet, and dancers/principals with Joffrey
Ballet, Ballet West, and Utah’s Repertory
Dance Theatre. ● Guest
accompanist 2004 American College
Dance Festival.

Has accompanied musicians and singers from all over the world including
Broadway actors, Utah favorites Dallyn
Bayles lead in Light of The
World, and Joy Rodgers Gardner
lead in Testament, Utah State Fair winners, BYU
Concerto Competition winners,
and Crescent School of Music
Scholarship winners, etc. ● Performed
while at BYU with the Salsa
Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz
Combos. ● Pianist for BYU Women’s Jazz Choir under the direction of Kelly Eisenhower. ● Classical training with Robert
Smith, Sandra Peterson, and Mildred Gerrard ● Jazz training with Ray Smith,
Steve Keen, Steve Call, Jeff Fergo, and Steve Lindeman. ● Twenty-four years private music
teaching experience. Some
of Deena’s former students are current music majors at BYU or have received
degrees in music from BYU. ● Former State Board Member of Utah Music Teachers Association.
